Sequoia National Park

Ever since we have been married New Years Eve has never been a big holiday for us. When we were first married Nathaniel always had to work that night. Now that he has some seniority and can actually have it off we can never find a sitter. It's my mother's birthday on the first so she always goes out that night with friends to celebrate. Everyone else who I trust with my kids also have plans. So we can always be found safe and sound in our beds sleeping by 10 p.m. on New Years night. So sad!!! I always feel like I'm a boring 100 year old dud. So this year we decided to at least take a trip some where as a family and have our own celebration. Nathaniel has family who live in Visalia and they were throwing a weekend long party. So we packed up the family wagon and were off.

On New Year's Day we went to the Sequoia National Park and took the kids sledding. It was a beautiful drive. The higher up the mountain we got the more amazing the views got. When we finally reached the top we bundled up and went to play! Chase was loving it!!! He was rolling around in the snow, tasting it, and throwing it. He had a huge smile on his face the whole time. Jalen was having a great time too until Nathaniel took him sledding and snow sprayed in his face. He started crying and saying "No Snow Man", that's what he calls snow. I took him up once but he didn't enjoy it so we put the sled aside and just let them play. It was nice to be out and enjoying the holiday as a family. Jalen was so exhausted that he fell asleep on Nathaniel's arm as we walked to the car, he never does that! As Nathaniel strapped him in his car seat Jalen whispered out, "bye snow man".

So gorgeous up there!

Sledding time, not as big of a hit as we expected.

Chase was in Heaven!

Heather it's about a three hour drive to Visalia and then another hour up to the Sequoias. Big Bear is much closer and they have been getting lots of snow. I'm sure Mitch would love it. See you soon!
